Getting lash extensions for your vacation or event

So, you want to get a new set of lashes for your vacation?

Hybrid siren eye lashes

A warning, and this comes from experience. Please don't get lash extensions for the first time (or from a lash tech you've never been to) right before you have a trip. Make sure you've had the full set and at least one fill beforehand. I'm a lash artist in an area with a lot of seasonal tourism. Every year at the beginning of the summer, I begin to get frantic calls from people who've just arrived, have had lash extensions put on right before they left, and are now trying to get them removed as soon as possible. The reasons are always because the lashes are uncomfortable (tearing their natural lashes out or poking their eyes), they're having an allergic reaction, or the style is wrong/not what they asked for. I've seen people with their entire lash line glued together because they didn't know the quality of work they were going to receive. I have removed some of the most terrible lashes from tourists. They always say that they wanted to make their trip easier by having lashes, but ended up having to shuffle around their plans or miss activities so they could get them removed. One removal client told me she had 6 hours flying and a 3 hour layover with most of her lash extensions poking into her eye. As soon as she touched down, she started calling salons to find the quickest removal. Just imagine, if you're in another country, finding someone to do a removal on short notice with a possible language barrier can be next to impossible. At that point you're stuck with what you have, and it can absolutely ruin your entire vacation. A responsible lash artist or technician will not risk that.

If you think you're going to want lashes for vacation, plan it for at least a few weeks in advance so you can refine your mapping with your tech, make sure they're what you actually want, and ensure they're comfortable and safe. You want your lashes to enhance your vacation, not ruin it.

Lash extensions right before a wedding or event?

Expect to have your initial installation appointment at least 3 weeks in advance if you're going on vacation, attending an event, or going to a wedding as a guest. Plan for one month before if you're in the wedding party, and get your lashes two to three months in advance if you're getting lashes for your own wedding.

This is important. The swelling, redness, and skin peeling from an allergic reaction can last for 3 weeks until it's fully resolved and the skin has finished peeling. Getting lashes a few days or a week before your wedding can be disastrous for a bride. Make sure you're established with your lash artist and are happy with your mapping and the amount of volume before your big day. I recommend having your lashes put on before your bridal shower. This gives you the perfect opportunity for a test run with pictures and feedback from your friends and family.

Lash extensions should make you feel beautiful, not give you unnecessary stress.

With a little bit of planning, lashes can make happy memories. When they're a last minute decision, they can be a nightmare. Make sure to plan well ahead and eliminate the possibility of a bad experience.
